your role as chairman of the naacp. you talk about greta and betty and myrlie. talk to me about the role that women played in the movement. the undervalued and under recognized role. >> keep going. i am sure the audience is with you. it is a bit of an event that has happened. women have always been the stabilizer in the family. to me, that goes back to the days of slavery. women always worked and men worked, too. we seem to have been treated a little bit differently than men. fast forward to today. we still find more women employed and employable than black males. we still find that divide between today, as to who gets the largest crumb from that tiny slice of pie that we, as african-americans, get. to get the recognition for what women have done in the movement has been difficult. it is remiss. let's take me for example. i have emphasized the fact that of was the first female chairman of the naacp who was full time and unsell rate. -- and unsalaried. i made that emphasis and i still do because the organization was practically dead. this took hours and hours of hard work to get
